This story begins with YOU.  Without the support of our Merage School community, access to higher education would be out of reach for many of our talented students.  It is your philanthropic investment that creates stories of success.  Your gift has the power to solidify the future of the next generation of leaders.  Thank you!

The Paul Merage School of Business is pleased to create a new scholarship fund—the Keith and Michelle Boothroyd LEADership Award—gifted by alumni Keith (Economics ’92, FEMBA ’96) and Michelle (Social Ecology, ’93) Boothroyd.

Lisa and Mark Locklear MBA ’84, recently committed a generous $5,000 gift to the Merage School, a gift that they have made annually for consecutive years. Their gift inspires fellow alumni to make contributions of their own.

“As our son Matt graduates from the MPAc program, we continue to be grateful for the impact that the Merage School has had on our entire family,” says Lisa. “Our contribution is an opportunity to say, ‘thank you’ to all those who have supported us along the way.”

Professor Gerardo Okhuysen and Chris Pounds gave back to the Merage School by matching all donations up to $25,000 on this year’s annual Giving Day. This generous gift reflects their vision of helping students become global citizens. The Gerardo Okhuysen and Chris Pounds Scholarship Fund will transform student experiences by helping fund international residentials for undergrads that would not otherwise be able to participate.

“Chris’ career has been global in nature and I was born and raised in Mexico,” Gerardo said. “Not only are we committed to the cause of public education, we understand how much our careers have blossomed thanks to our global experiences. We want to ensure all students have this opportunity.”

Gerardo and Chris recognize that many Merage School undergraduate students are first-generation students who struggle to finance international travel—even for educational purposes. For them, exposing our students to new cultures, ideas and ways of doing business is a gift that will enrich their worldview and have far-reaching benefits

Merage School Annual Scholarship Dinner

The Merage School was thrilled to host its inaugural Scholarship Dinner to celebrate the generosity of our donors who have made philanthropic endowed commitments in support of student scholarship.  The highlight of the evening was hearing how the gift of scholarship has truly made an impact on each student recipient’s ability to access a premier business education and has positively impacted their Merage School experience.

Scholarship Dinner 2020
“I had the privilege of attending the Merage School's Scholarship Dinner as the inaugural recipient of the Greg and Cindy Lai Scholarship.  Despite meeting them for the first time, I felt a sense of mentorship and compassion from the brief three hour dinner and conversation we had. Thank you so much for your generosity and for your support.”
